Rodakino - Korakas
The village of Rodakino is located 45 km southeast of Rethymno, at the exit of the wild gorge of Rodakino. Korakas is the first beach located at the exit of the now dry river, which passes through a steep gorge that descends from Mount Krioneritis. It is a long beautiful beach with fine grayish pebbles and wonderfully crystal clear waters, quite organized with umbrellas. To the east there are cavernous rocks, which in the past, the locals say, resembled a crow’s beak. During the Cretan revolution of 1866, Greek cruisers unloaded their munitions at Korakas beach. It is a well-organized beach while in the western part there are enough trees for shade.
In 2012 it was awarded with a blue flag and is a choice of both locals and tourists. It is an organized beach, as there are restaurants, cafes and rooms for rent in the surrounding area.
