Schoinaria

Schoinaria beach is located in the southern part of Crete at a distance of approximately 33 kilometers south of the city of Rethymnon, in the wider area of Plakias. What characterizes this particular beach is its bottom, which starts with sand and ends in a rocky landscape. The rocks that exist around the sea in combination with the blue-green waters, create a dreamy landscape. The sand is coarse without sticking to the body and combined with the endless dips, one can enjoy a great day at sea. Divers often visit the beach to explore the seabed and there is a diving school on the beach. In fact, the visibility and clarity of the water reach up to 40 meters.

The beach has an organized part with umbrellas, but also an unorganized part, where bathers can enjoy the sea with their own equipment. It is a popular choice among the locals, who rank it among the best beaches in Crete. Access to the beach is easy through the provincial network that connects Rethymnon with Preveli Monastery by heading towards Lefkogeia, following the relevant signs. However, the last part of the route requires some care, as the road narrows here, and you may, especially during the summer months, have difficulty with parking, as the available space is quite small and you may have to walk to reach it. Nevertheless, it is certain that the enjoyable bath will compensate you.
